The Dangers of Vaping Unregulated Oils

We’re sure you’ve seen numerous, frightening articles about vaping products being linked to rising illnesses and hospitalizations across the country. So what exactly is causing these tragedies?

We’re sure you’ve seen numerous, frightening articles about vaping products being linked to rising illnesses and hospitalizations across the country. There have been “...over 450 cases of respiratory distress that may be associated with the use of disposable vapor cartridges used to consume certain e-liquids” (Terpenes and Testing, 2019). The suggested cause of these tragic incidents is high levels of vitamin E acetate in vape cartridges which, when inhaled, can cause lipoid pneumonia (Terpenes and Testing, 2019). Leafly states that  harmful additives like these have been introduced to unregulated oil cartridges.

Thankfully, vaping cannabis flower has not been connected to any such pulmonary illness. Here at In The Flow, we recommend vaping flower because there is minimal processing done to mother nature’s design of the cannabis plant. We also partner and work closely with high-quality companies that produce clean, quality oils derived from In The Flow trim. These products do not  contain vitamin E acetate or other harmful additives.

Before jumping to conclusions about the risk of pulmonary illness from vaping cannabis, more information is needed. Many links between illness and vaping have much do with the vaping of nicotine as well. These terrible incidents reiterate the importance “of understanding that not all products are created equal; quality control testing is critical and only exists in the legally regulated marketplace” (Terpenes and Testing, 2019). This is why we highly recommend sticking with fully legal, regulated cannabis products in order to avoid the dangers that come with ingesting unregulated products.
